PASQUALE LIQUOR VIOLATION
cont'd

WARD REAPPOINTMENT

SALES TAX vs. GROSS RECEIPT

SEADER LIQUOR LICENSE
TRANSFER

-2-

Councilman Berry then moved that the
hearing be scheduled at 7:00 P.M. on
Monday, December 9, 1974 at the City
Hall. Seconded by Councilman DiCarlo.
Motion carried.

Mr. Wurl brought the matter up to have
the wards reviewed and made up in time
for the next City election. It was
stated that the matter could be discussed
at the time of the Pasquale hearing.

Mr. Wurl stated that it was brought up
that the sales tax which was defeated
in the City election in 1973 would not
have increased the tax any but would
allow the City to also place a use tax
which would apply only to building
materials and vehicles. If the sales
tax was accepted in the City, the busi-
nesses would send their City tax in with
their state tax and the state would
then send the City its portion. This
would be an easier way to collect the
taxes and a more reliable way. Mr.
Wurl explained use tax and the difference
between sales and use tax.
Councilman DiCarlo requested that a
comparable study be made on the use and
sales tax as compared to the gross re-
ceipt tax within a City of Louisvilles
size.
Councilman Berry moved that CAC be asked
to gather questions and items from
citizens for discussion and if necessary
hold a public hearing before January,
1975. Seconded by Councilman DiCarlo.
Motion carried.
Mr. Wurl stated that a special election
would have to be held on the issuing of
these taxes within the City.

Mr. Wurl informed Council that the
license transfer was chaing into a cor-
poration from the present single owner.
A point of clarification was needed as
to the effective date of the license
transfer. Attorney Morris stated that
the license could be passed without any
problem. Councilman DelPizzo moved that
the license transfer for 1975 be approved.
subj ect to clarification. Seconded by Cotm-
cilman DiCarlo. Roll call. Berry yes, Scholl
yes, Dhieux yes, DelPizzo yes, DiCarlo yes.
Motion carried.
