City Council
Study Session Summary
July 14, 2009
to explore the landscaping at the interchange. Louisville staff expressed
concerns regarding the sustainability, costs, and maintenance of the plant
material over the long term for the landscaping designs. An additional concern is
possible modification of the interchange affecting the landscaping option
selected. Staff also voiced concern of the visualization of businesses and the
Flatirons that would be impaired by tall trees. Is there another option other than
tall trees? Louisville suggested looking at bushes, shrubs, or other plants in
place of trees. Louisville councilors would like examples of real interchanges that
incorporate different designs. Some options have a higher installation, but a
significant decrease in on-going maintenance costs. Parks and Recreation staff
emphasized the importance of the diversity of species, and conservation.
Other Business
There is an important DRCOG meeting on Wednesday night.
