City Council <br />Study Session Summary <br />August 11, 2009 <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />work on fund raising, the new oral history program, the successful Historical <br />Society membership drive, and the annual Society program. <br />Councilmember Muckle noted that the Holiday Home Tour is a great event and <br />he recommended the Commission advertise the event more broadly using <br />Historic Boulder as a resource if possible. <br />Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator, noted that on August 5 a member of the <br />Commission, Anne Robinson, gave a walking tour of downtown for over 50 <br />members of Historic Boulder. <br />Mayor Sisk asked if there are ways, other than a larger budget, that the City <br />could help the Commission more. <br />Mellish stated that help with volunteer training and how best to utilize volunteers <br />could be helpful. <br />Meredyth Muth, Public Relations Manager, noted that the Commission paid for <br />the new wrought iron fence ($12,000) surrounding the Museum Campus. <br />Members of the Council thanked the Historical Commission for their work and in <br />particular noted the estimated 900 hours of time the Commission members <br />volunteered in 2008. <br />Update/Discussion – Planning Commission <br />The following Planning Commission members were in attendance: <br /> Gail Hartman <br /> Jeff Lipton <br /> Susan Loo <br /> Chris Pritchard <br /> Scott Russell <br />Planning Commission chairperson Jeff Lipton thanked the Council for this chance <br />to meet and review the Commission’s 2009-2010 work plan. Lipton noted that the <br />reduction in development proposals this year has given the Commission the time <br />to proceed with some long-term planning projects. This year’s work plan includes <br />(in no particular order): <br />1. Completion of a Downtown Parking Study specifically looking at the current <br />parking requirement ratio for downtown (1:400); if additional parking is <br />required to meet future needs, where would it make most sense to locate it; <br />evaluating revisions to maximum for commercial/office Floor Area Ratio <br />(FAR); and evaluating revisions to existing parking ratio of 1 parking space <br />per 400 square feet of commercial/office area.
