Resource Conservation Advisory Board
Agenda
DATE

(or .com). In addition, she suggested we google "energy tax credits"
to find more relevant sites. For specific information about windows,
doors and furnaces, she recommends we instruct residents to
reference specific manufacturers' sites (i.e. Anderson, Bella or
Champion for windows).
C. Mark asked about any sites that contain price/savings comparisons
or typical ROI and time to recoup for green home improvements,
stating that a typical question is "If I pay more for this green
alternative, how long will it take to recoup my additional costs." He
also mentioned that Council members would appreciate having that
information to support any future decisions about adopting green
building codes. This may be difficult due to the many variables
associated with green home improvements. Beth mentioned that
people spend up to $1,600 annually on energy bills, however she
has not found any sites that break down savings. More discussion
will be required. This may also be something to add to the site in a
future phase.
D. Annie sent Dave information about PV panels last month. Annie
demonstrated the site provided by her contractor that shows the
specific energy usage and generation at her house. We discussed
linking to that site, but agreed it would be better to take the
information from that site and populate our own site, including
graphs and charts, rather than appear to endorse her contractor.
We also discussed using her experience as an example of a typical
cost structure for PV panels (i.e. total cost, Xcel rebate, federal tax
credit and net cost).
E. Richard Smith will share information about energy audits at a future
date.
F. Mark will share information about green building criteria at a future
date.
G. Dave distributed and discussed the preliminary site organization
options he developed. We discussed several organizational options
and categories/site navigation options including: "Updating your
home," "Remodels," "Replacement items/appliances," "Solarizing,"
"Saving money on utilities" and "energy efficiency/green building."
Dave will work on 2-3 site map options and attempt to have that
ready to share by the September meeting.

VII.
