SUGGESTED AMENDMENTS TO EXISTING CODE
SECTIONS

1. 2006 IMC section 306.5 - add language to require unobstructed space below any
roof hatch to match the size of the roof hatch opening.
2. Delete entire Part VIII (Chapters 33 through 42) of the 2006 IRC since we have
separately adopted the current version of the National Electrical Code (2008).
3. Delete adoption of 2006 IPC Appendix C (Gray Water Recycling Systems) since
the State of Colorado water law does not allow gray water recycling to be used on
landscaping only on limited uses within the house.
4. Add requirement for gutters into 2006 IBC Section 1112.4 and to 2006 IRC
Section R40 1.3.4. - this will provide clarification for existing wording to get roof
water away from building.
5. Clarify requirements in IBC section 1112.7 for site grading on commercial
buildings. We typically do not require site grading plans and certificates on the
normal commercial project since our Engineering Department is charged with
these reviews and signoffs.
6. Add requirements for drip edge flashing for asphalt shingles into IRC that match
what is in IBC Section 1507.9.3. This will provide consistency between the two
codes since asphalt shingles are the same on residential and commercial buildings
7. Add requirements to the swimming pool fence requirements in the Zoning Code
to include details on how to construct - we could use requirements out of IRC
Appendix.
