Building Code Board of Appeals
Minutes
06/18/09
2. By laws - Mike Jones said the change here is making the alternate
member a viable voting member in the case of a regular member's
absence. He would like to add the advisory position verbiage.

Rex Olson asked if he could jump back to the previous question: if we
are all okay with the proposed 2009 Fire Code with the sprinkler
codes? (Some light discussion amongst the group occurred between
the Board members about the strains of current and past projects of
codes imposed upon them).

Matthew Berry said this 5000 SF number has a stigma attached to it.
The Council needs to have a clear definition on the 5000 SF number.

B. Green Building
1. Update National Residential Green Building ANSI 700
Mike Jones said ANSI 700 is not widely accepted yet because training is
required. He wants to wait and see how it will evolve.

2. Update National Commercial Green Building ANSI 189.1
Mike Jones informed that the commercial ANSI 189.1 in not yet released.

3. Update Boulder County Build Smart Program
Mike Jones said the Boulder County Build Smart Program is being
cleaned up, and in general Boulder is backing down on a great deal of this
program.

4. Update City of Boulder Green Points Program
Mike Jones said that the Boulder County Green Points Program is going
through a total revision.

C. Green Building City of Louisville
1. Update on What's Working Contract
Mike Jones said the City of Louisville did submit a contract to Dave
Johnson from What's Working. Dave Johnson is a tremendous
advocate to the Boulder Build Smart Program, however, nothing is
moving forward as fast as once anticipated.

2. Update on Green Building Process
Mike Jones said once Dave says it is a go, the Transition Louisville
committee will hold public meetings at the library. Dave will be
presenting our objectives and goes for public input.

3. Update on Green Building Time Line
Mike said the time line will probably be tabled until next year in 2010.
