Historical Commission <br />Minutes <br />February 18, 2009 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />F.Louisville Historian, Winter 2009: 618 copies were distributed in early <br />February. <br />G. The Commission approved $500 for expenditures in 2009 from the Museum’s <br />petty cash fund for Museum projects. For expenditures of more than $100, <br />additional approval is to be obtained. <br />Committee Reports <br />IX <br />A. Facility Management and Maintenance Update <br />1. Plans for the steps in front of the museum are complete. The project is to <br />be completed during the summer of 2009 <br />2. Fire detection systems are under consideration to be installed in the three <br />main buildings of the Museum at a cost of approximately $80,000 to <br />$100,000. <br />3. One garden bench has been installed on the Museum Campus and a new <br />location will be found for the second bench. <br />4. Maintenance: small projects are underway <br />5. Painting: no bids yet, but the project is proceeding <br />6. Spring garden clean up: date to be determined <br />B. Community Education <br />1. Dustin Sagrillo will investigate cameras for future purchase/use on the <br />Oral History project. <br />2. Book Club update seven persons attended the last meeting. The next <br />book topic/theme will be Boulder County History. Commission members <br />will be notified of meetings and topics. <br />3. Spring Historical Program May 20th, first choice; May 13th, second <br />choice. Speaker and topic: Bridget Bacon will pursue a speaker. The <br />Commission authorized $100 as an honorarium for the speaker. <br />C. Events and Fundraising: No report <br />D. Membership <br />1. Individual or Family Memberships: Based on a postcard mailing in <br />November to ask members to renew, 61% have renewed. A follow up <br />mailing will be sent out next month. 2009: 2 new members <br />2. Business Sponsors: 11 out of 21 have renewed, 7 new Business <br />Sponsors <br />E. Volunteers <br />1. An appreciation luncheon or tea for volunteers was discussed, but no <br />decision was reached. <br />2. Commission members are asked to keep track of volunteer hours on their <br />time sheets. <br />3. 2008 volunteer hours were reviewed. Bridget Bacon noted that whether <br />people are categorized as volunteering for Commission related activities <br />or as volunteering for the Museum, they are all considered to be City <br />volunteers for the Museum and are under the supervision of the City. <br />F. Public Relations Recap - Pat Seader received the 2009 Pioneer Award at the <br />Chamber of Commerce Banquet. <br />G. Then/Now Photo Project - Mike Oliver has expressed an interest in taking <br />pictures of contemporary Louisville. Bridget Bacon recently contacted him <br />about the project. <br />H. Mine Marker Project - No new information <br /> <br />
