COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: WILLIAM A. SIMMONS
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
DATE: October 19, 1999
SUBJECT: North Water Treatment Plant Landscape Master Plan
ORIGINATING DEPARTMENT: Public Works Department
SUMMARY:
Included in the 1999 Water Fund Budget are funds for developing a Landscape Master Plan for the North
Water Treatment Plant (NWTP). Over the years as various improvements and expansions have taken
place at the NWTP landscaping was put on hold. The Public Works Department is comfortable that the
limited nature of future improvements allows us to invest in landscaping that will not be disturbed by
further modifications to the plant. The Landscape Master Plan will allow us to address comments from
adjacent residents regarding view of obstruction from existing trees.
DHM Design has developed the attached scope of work' for the Landscape Master Plan. DHM Design is
the firm being retained by the Parks Rec Department for development of the Cherry Street landscape
plans. The Public Works Department is requesting authorization to amend their existing contract to
include this work as a separate task.
Funds for the work are contained in the 1999 Water Fund, Capital Improvement Program.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Scope of Work for Landscape Master Plan at the NWTP
with DHM Design in the amount not to exceed $6,227.
I= SUBJECT AGENDA ITEM
North Water Treatment Plant
Landscape Master Plan
3C
