Davidson called for Council comments, questions, or motions.
Lathrop asked why they are not paving Cherry Street.
O'Connor stated that it is not necessary. He pointed out that the District is committed to paving
Cherry Street at the time it is necessary.
Lathrop thought the plans should be clarified by the time they get to Planning Commission as they
were not clear plans.
Sisk moved that Council send the Plat and PUD for The Park at CTC on to the Planning Commission,
seconded by Mayer. All in favor with Keany being absent.
DISCUSSION/DIRECTION CTC SIDEWALK PLAN
Paul Wood, Planning Director, stated that it is a 5' detached sidewalk on one side of the street. Staff
comments on the plan pertained to issues of general pedestrian circulation and ADA access
requirements. Planning Commission discussed the adequacy of a sidewalk on one side of the street.;
If a sidewalk on both sides was deemed necessary for safety purposes, a work session would need
to be held and there would be a type of public or private partnership in terms of the City's
participation in funding the balance of the additional improvements.
Davidson did not like the idea of the City building sidewalks in an industrial area. If the City were
going to build sidewalks, it would be in Old Town.
Howard moved that Council approve the sidewalk plan as presented, seconded by Levihn. All in
favor with Keany being absent.
OTHER BUSINESS ITEMS ARISING AFTER PREPARATION OF AGENDA
NONE
CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT
NONE
CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
Bill Simmons, City Administrator, announced that on Monday, May 12, the City will be hosting an
open house at the Library from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Staff will be available to present and explain the
plans for the downtown improvements this year. At the May 13 Work Session Council will be
meeting, with the Library Board of Trustees. There will be a discussion and evaluation of the speed
hump on Hoover.
10
