Posted in City Hall, Public Library, <br />Recreation Center and Courts and Police Building and mailed to surrounding <br />property owners on July 24, 2009. <br />Conflict of Interest and Disclosure: <br />None heard. <br />Staff Report of Facts and Issues: <br />McCartney summarized with the following points: <br />The application is for a final planned unit development (PUD) and special <br />review use (SRU) for the remodel and reconstruction of the existing Fire <br />Station at 1240 Main Street which was constructed in 1971. <br />The applicant plans to reuse as much of the existing structure as possible, <br />however the existing structure will have extensive renovation. <br />The renovation will provide more usable space for the expanding fire <br />department and add fire fighter dorm rooms for over night stay. <br />The SRU approval is required because the property is zoned RM, <br />Residential Medium Density which allows government facilities only with <br />the SRU approval. <br />There is no need for a floodpialn development permit since the property is <br />located in a Zone X as design ted on FEMA's Flood Insurance Rate Map <br />(FIRM). <br />Site Plan: <br />o tt area is 2 <br />o o -story con rete block .tructure, approximately 8,062 SF, <br />npli a h the eight aci setback requirements established <br />own Overt y District. <br />dditions are to be located on the north and south <br />cture with one of additions extending to the east. <br />e north will require a setback waiver. Vertical <br />brick elements break up the facade and the windows are <br />aluminum frame. <br />o It is planned to reuse the superstructure of the existing building. <br />o Additional materials that are planned to be used are: concrete <br />block, red brick, metal awnings and windows, down case accent <br />lighting, corrugated metal siding and cast stone parapets. <br />
