BRaD
Study Session Summary
August 3, 2009
Zayo
- Bonnie reported that this is a downtown broadband company, with a
national market. They are growing and will need additional office space, but
want to remain downtown. They also need access to our downtown library and
may take advantage of the corporate program at the Rec Center.
Courtyard by Marriot/Residence Inn
- Bonnie met with the manager of these
hotels. Together they employ 45 people.Business is down, but they are actively
marketing corporate accounts in the area. They are a big supporter of downtown
Louisville. The City needs to trim some trees to allow better visibility of the Hwy
36 exit sign for Louisville at McCaslin.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING
Bonnie updated the Committee on the Santa Fe Grille building. It is under
contract, scheduled to close at the end of August. The owner of Santa Fe Grille
has singed a 5-year lease to continue in operation. She is working with several
prospects regarding the Post Office. She distributed an article entitled “Eyes
Wide Open – a Practical Guide to Business Retention” and copies of the Boulder
County Business Report publication Boulder Valley Economic Profile. Michael
Menaker suggested we craft a story regarding Louisville’s position with respect to
solar/alternate energy. Andrew suggested we use a local PR firm to promote the
story to get into new venues.
AGENDA ITEMS FOR SEPTEMBER 17 MEETING:
Field trip to Fitzsimmons
Life Sciences District and Anschutz Medical Center. Meet in the Library parking
lot to board the city van for transport.
Adjourn: 10:15 a.m.
Meeting Summary Submitted by Bonnie Star
