Youth Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
11/5/09
A change in standards would only be mandatory for new developments,
old developments will only be forced to change if complaints are filed.
VII. Volunteer Activities- report on past functions and plan future
opportunities
Good job at the Halloween party at the Boulder Valley YMCA!!!
Nov: Community Food Share
Daisy talked about the turkey trot, while collecting food we will
be distributing turkey trot fliers.
We signed up for slots to work on the mornings of Nov. 23 ,
2009 and Nov. 24 , 2009
Dec. 17, 2009 dessert and story time with Santa.
Other opportunities: 12/18/09- the day they put together the
Holiday Baskets with the Methodist Church in Louisville, and
12/19/09- the day the packages are distributed
VIII. Discuss other city boards and commissions
Sam went Historical Preservation Commission talking about an old
Louisville house that some wanted to be knocked down. It was a highly
debated topic.
IX. Further goal setting discussion concerning the upcoming term
Leslie talked to the American government teachers and classes about the
YAB letting them know that we exist and what we do. Will talk to the 360
program about what we do and invite people to come and attend our
meetings and see what’s up. Their most common questions that they
asked is what we do and if we were involved with BVSD. Wanted to know
if we could do something about the Lynx bus around Monarch.
One idea is to work with other boards to solve a problem around the bus
schedules. And go to RTD and talk to them about revising their schedules
to accommodate the youth more.
Talk to the Louisville Times and school news papers about up coming
events and a monthly blurb inviting people to come help us with our
projects to give them volunteer hours.
Get in touch with the surrounding cities youth advisory boards and maybe
work on a project in collaboration with them.
Are we going to do another Poet-a-Thon this year?
Collection of backpack project at the youth sale/daddy daughter dance?
Major promoting needed to make that work.
An idea was raised that we still donate to Boulder County Housing and
Human Services.
Some one suggested that we create an award to go to a youth citizen of
the month.
Volunteer-a-Thon idea was raised by Sam
