Horticultural & Forestry Advisory Board
Minutes
November 5, 2009
Community Garden would be the most appropriate site for fruit trees, and
suggested that Seth should approach Boulder County (one of the partners in the
Community Garden) with his proposal. Chris would prefer to reserve the only
remaining open area in the Arboretum to fulfill the original site plans, rather than
dedicate space and water to fruit trees.
Commercial Landscape Maintenance Ordinance
—Regarding former site of
Checkers Auto Parts at Cherry and McCaslin, Chris has contacted the property
manager who promised to take care of maintenance issues—as of this meeting
date nothing has been done.
Chris and Dean plan to meet with Code Enforcement Officer Laura Lobato to
discuss current landscape maintenance ordinance and its enforcement. After
HFAB reviews this, recommendations for changes (if needed) will be directed to
City staff and City Council.
Cemetery Expansion
—Planting and sod installation are complete. Winter
watering will be done by the contractor.
Website Development
—Tree protection guidelines will be added to HFAB
section.
Discussion Items for next meeting on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009
—Finalize tree
protection guidelines; Chris to report on current landscape maintenance
ordinance; Chris to check on HFAB member appointments.
Adjourn
—The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.
