2) <br /> <br />3) <br />4) <br /> <br />46_) <br /> <br />Maximum Area of commercial/retail flush-mounted signs shall be 1 <br />square foot of sign area per linear foot of building frontage of the <br />individual business. No individual sign shall exceed 200 square feet. <br />(s) <br />Projecting signs may not exceed 4 square feet in area. (S) <br />Character heights for commercial retail and office signs shall be <br />limited to a maximum height of 24 inches. (S) <br />Character heights may be further limited through the PUD process <br />based on architectural compatibility_ and site development context. <br /> <br />Maximum area of commercial/office signs is as set forth in <br />subsection B.3 above. (S) <br /> <br /> Section3. Section 7.4.C of the Louisville Commercial Design Standards and <br />Guidelines is hereby amended to read as follows, and Section 7.4 of such Standards and Guidelines <br />is hereby further amended by the addition of a new Section 7.4.E and a new Section 7.4.F, to read <br />as follows (words to be added are underlined; words to be deleted are st~cken through): <br /> <br />7.4 Sign Illumination <br />Standards and Guidelines: <br />C. The use of individually-cut, <br /> <br /> back-lit character tett~ signs is strongly <br />encouraged. (G) <br />When using an internally illuminated sign cabinet, only that portion of the <br />sign face dedicated to the trademark or characters may be translucent. The <br />balance of the sign face shall not be clear or translucent or emit a light <br />source. (S) <br />As used in this Chapter 7, "character" means and includes any graphic <br />symbol used for sign text, including but not limited to letters, numbers and <br />logos, provided that any character used for a sign must be a part of the name, <br />service mark or trademark of the company or business. <br /> <br /> Section 4. Section 7.5 of the Louisville Commercial Design Standards and Guidelines <br />is hereby amended by the addition of new Sections 7.5.A.5 and 7.5.A.6, to read as follows (words <br />to be added are underlined; words to be deleted are stricken ~.r,v, ugh): <br /> <br />7.5 Allowable Sign Types <br />Standards and Guidelines: <br />A. Monument Signs <br /> 5_) When using a sign. cabinet, the entire area of the cabinet shall be <br /> used in calculating the sign area.
