Historic Preservation Commission <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 19, 2009 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />Lewis recommended for staff to speak with the owner and notify them of the <br />funding incentives available for rehabilitation. <br />Stewart agreed with Lewis and added the owner should be invited to the next <br />meeting for a discussion with HPC. <br />McCartney stated he would call the owner and then write a letter to further <br />explain the incentives available. <br />Update/Discussion/Action – Architectural Survey <br />Stewart gave an update of the work he has been doing on the architectural <br />survey. He stated the survey should be updated and completed to comply with <br />the building rating system sub categories shown on Page 51 of the Design <br />Handbook. <br />Stewart stated the survey could either be paid for by the HPF or the HPC could <br />reapply to the SHPO for a grant. <br />Koertje stated he had a conversation with Dan Corson at SHPO who <br />recommended the Commission reapply. <br />Committee Reports <br />Community Outreach <br />Jean Morgan recommended to the Commission there should be handouts <br />regarding the Incentive Program at the hometour sites this year. Morgan <br />recommended pamphlets should be at the Church and information on the <br />website. <br />Design Assistance <br />Lewis explained her past work with two applicants interested in the incentive <br />program. <br />Old Town Historic District <br />Stewart stated the mapping is the most important component of this project. <br />The Commission directed staff to work with City of Louisville GIS Coordinator <br />(Susan Dellinger) to get the maps completed. <br />Update on Demolition Requests – 1040 Lafarge - garage <br />McCartney gave a brief presentation on the sub-committee’s review of the <br />request to demolish the existing garage. The sub-committee found the garage <br />did not have enough architectural integrity to warrant a stay, so the permit was <br />released. <br />Williams stated he was hoping the Commission would have a chance to speak <br />with the owner so the Commission could review the proposed plans. <br />McCartney stated he has been in contact with the owner and she is not ready to <br />meet with the Commission but might be able to do so in January. <br />Lewis stated she would be interested in speaking with the owner to provide <br />design assistance. Lewis brought up the possibility for a Conservation <br />Easement. <br /> <br />
