Open Space Advisory Board
Minutes
November 12, 2009
Justin indicated that the statement could eliminate “Open Space Advisory
Board” in order to broaden the scope.
Harper Lake – Davidson Mesa Crossing Improvements
Ember said that in 2010 there is $31k allotted for Harper Lake parking lot
improvements and $150k for Harper Lake – Davidson Mesa crossing
improvements. Joe said that Public Works provided the funding for the crossing.
Spencer suggested that a first measure would be to lower the speed limit on
McCaslin. Justin recalled that Truman suggested recently a red light stop
mechanism. Joe said that it would be beneficial to hear what parameters Public
Works will be working with.
Truman suggested that we turn part of the dog-off-leash area into
additional parking.
Renaming Tamarisk Open Space
Drew said that a name that incorporates native vegetation would be
apropos. Ember provided a list that was derived from student suggestions and
other citizens.
Trail Maintenance Priorities
Ember presented two areas at Aquarius which need work, as well as a
spot on the Coal Creek trail at CTC. Davidson Mesa lower trails could use some
work also. Bollards added to Warembourg to discourage cars on open space is
a need, too.
Discussion Items for Next Meeting
-How to prepare for upcoming open space tax vote.
-Open Space traffic control and parking policy.
-Renaming Tamarisk Open Space.
-Explore using open space lands for energy generation.
-Goals and accomplishments for upcoming Study Session
Adjourn
– Justin motioned to adjourn, Spencer seconded. Unanimous. The
meeting was adjourned at 9:23pm
