The motion carried by a vote of 7-0. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE No.1562, SERIES 2009 - AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING BY <br />REFERENCE THE 2009 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING <br />CODE, THE 2009 EDITIION OF THE INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE, <br />THE 2009 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE, THE <br />2009 EDITION OF TI-IE IINTERNATIONAL FUEL GAS CODE, THE 2009 <br />EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE, THE <br />2009 EDITION OF THE INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE, THE 2009 <br />INTERNATIONAL PLUMBING CODE, AND THE MOST RECENT STATE- <br />ADOPTED EDITION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE; ENACTING <br />CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE FOREGOING INTERNATIONAL CODES; <br />AMENDING, REPEALING AND REENACTING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF <br />TITLE 15 OF THE LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE IN CONNECTION WITH <br />THE ADOPTION OF THE FOREGOING INTERNATIONAL CODES; AND <br />ESTABLISHING PIENAL TIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF SUCH CODES <br />Public Hearing <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk requested a City Attorney introduction. <br /> <br />City Attorney Light read Ordinance No. 1562, Series 2009. <br /> <br />Mayor Sisk opened the public hearing and requested a Staff presentation. <br /> <br />Chief Building Official Jones explained the City's Building Code Board of <br />Appeals, the Building Safety Division and the Louisville Fire Protection District <br />forwarded a recommendation of approval of Ordinance No. 1562, which would <br />adopt the 2009 International Building Codes. The City is currently using the 2003 <br />version of the International Codes for Building Safety Code enforcement. He <br />explained due to budget restraints, the 2006 Codes were not adopted. <br /> <br />The Building Code Board of .Appeals conducted public hearings on February 19, <br />March 19, April 15, June 18, September 17 and October 15 to discuss and <br />receive testimony. Based on the testimony given, the Board voted unanimously <br />to proceed with a recommendation to present the Codes with the included <br />amendment for adoption by 1the City Council. Items of special interest within the <br />code adoption are as follows: <br /> <br />. Residential Fire Sprinklers - The Building Board of Appeals recommended <br />postponing the enforcement date until 2013. <br />
