Library Board of Trustees
Minutes
MARCH 18, 2009
VII.Ongoing Business
A.Library Director Recruitment
Malcolm reported that the City had selected Corbus Library Consultants (Ohio) from
among eight finalists. Larry Corbus, principal consultant, has extensive experience with
libraries of Louisville’s size, including past and current library recruitments in Colorado.
Malcolm also noted that Larry has been involved in recruitment for a library that had
previously been through an unsuccessful search. Larry had exemplary references, as
well as the lowest cost proposal.
B.Meeting with City Council, May 2009
After a brief discussion, the Board unanimously agreed to continue to the next regular
meeting discussion and preparation for the Board’s meeting with City Council. The
purpose of the meeting with City Council is to outline what the Board is working on for
the next 12 months.
C.Status of IGA for Library Services
Malcolm Fleming and Scott Randall, Town Manager for Superior, have agreed on an IGA
to present to their respective governing bodies. Louisville City Council will vote on the
IGA at its April 7, 2008 meeting, and the Town of Superior Board of Trustees will vote at
its meeting on April 13, 2008.
Some Library Board members had worked closely with Malcolm to prepare the draft IGA,
which was reviewed at the meeting.
D.Local CLC Policy
Based on the status of the IGA and its expected adoption by both Louisville and
Superior, the Board unanimously agreed that further action to define a local CLC policy
is continued indefinitely.
VIII.New Business
A.Library Open House
Aimee noted that the Library Open House for the community would be part of the
Library’s National Library Week celebration (April 12-18). The event will take place on
Saturday, April 18, from 10am until 12pm. A Library committee is taking care of the
arrangements, including sending out some personal invitations.
Mayors Sisk and Muckle will be special guest readers at Story Time, along with local
firefighters. There will be refreshments, music, and a fire truck. The Library will also
institute a food drive/fee amnesty program for the entire week. Each donated food
item will waive up to $5 in Louisville Library overdue fees. The maximum amount
waived is $30. The Library has not had a fee amnesty program in about six years.
Donated food items will be given to the United Methodist Church of Louisville.
Hank inquired as to how much money was collected each week in overdue fees, and
Aimee noted that it was about $1400. After some discussion, Aimee acknowledged that
this figure might not be correct and that she would check into it further.
