Louisville Housing Authority (LHA) Resolution 2009-03: A Resolution Designating the
Chair of the Louisville Housing Authority Board Effective June 30, 2009

A nomination for the Chair of LHA Board is needed, effective today. Terri Abbott nominated
Steve Underhill, seconded by Scott McKenzie; with a unanimous vote. Terri Abbott will
continue as vice chair.

Walt Oelkers is interested in being an alternate. A discussion was held regarding City Council
authorization and rules for alternates. Walt is able to be here and participate, but not yet as a
voting member. The standard is once a year filling committees. In November, a letter should be
submitted to the Council. Callan will let Sherry know that Walt is going to be attending. If a

letter is needed, Callan can write one to keep on file.

Follow-up on Louisville City Council Study Session with the Louisville Housing Authority
th
Review of May 26 7:00pm Study Session

A discussion was held on the study session with the City Council regarding reviews, updates,
overview of properties and where going in past and upcoming issues.

Suggestions were made to make this a joint effort as a city wide issue, money is nearly
impossible right now, be creative regarding finding the means to actually get more senior rental
housing in the city.

Suggestion for brainstorming to come up with the means to be able to jump on any opportunities
that come our way, getting more direction for looking at opportunities, areas we are pursuing
looking for housing; ideas regarding generating capital. We should ask them to meet with us
when we are more specific, perhaps in 3 months, 6 months, or whenever we can have a good
productive session helping to move forward at a faster pace.

Since money is not available, perhaps land. A discussion was held about possible property or
piece of land becomes available; such as any public land dedications; church property, Conoco
Phillips, or others.

A suggestion was made by Callan that as a board, we should write an article and submit to the
paper regarding senior housing - make it exciting, engaging, strong need for the community.
Perhaps a way to get the citizens of Louisville more interested in senior housing. The newspaper
article could share the goals and needs to reach out to the community for additional senior
housing. Use statistics regarding growth of seniors in the city without a growth of senior
housing. Try to submit to newspaper(s) by Labor Day. First goal would be to get article written
and submitted and then do a follow up with City staff. Maybe do a write up on someone who
lives in one of our Senior Housing units to show how they are thriving. Show how we are not
taking away from open space, we are giving something very important to the Community. Need
to create an outline for what we want to do to help create the article. Callan, Scott, and Selena
will work on the article.
