PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA

Davidson called for public comments on items not on the agenda.

Douglas Weeks, 737 Nighthawk Circle, Louisville, Colorado stated that there is a problem with cut-
through traffic in his neighborhood. A traffic study conducted by the City confirms that there is an
unusual amount of traffic from outside the neighborhood. Barriers were temporarily erected on the
north end of Nighthawk Circle, allowing a right turn only. Resident responses to a survey from
Meredyth Muth, Community Facilitator, are equally split on how to remedy the situation. He asked
that Council not look at the neighborhood as divided on what they would like done but realize that
although their choices may not be similar, they all agree that this is a safety issue and something
needs to be done.

John Gedney, 723 Nighthawk Circle, Louisville, Colorado agreed with Weeks. He stated that the cut-
through traffic creates a significant safety issue for the neighborhood children. The temporary
barriers erected by the City were highly effective in eliminating cut-through traffic and did not create
an inconvenience for anyone previously using the neighborhood as a shortcut. He asked that Council
seriously consider placing permanent barriers at the north end of Nighthawk Circle.

Rob Shapiro, 782 Nighthawk Circle, Louisville, Colorado, agreed with Weeks and Gendey.

COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE
AGENDA

Davidson reported that on June 1, the City paid off a $5.5 million water bond with funds escrowed
from July, 1996 to now. The net effect of paying this bond off will save the water-users of the City
of Louisville $2.7 million over the ten years remaining on the bond.

Sisk complimented City staffon the appearance of the flowers and trees outside City Hall. He stated
he is looking forward to staff applying their abilities to the arteries and gateways of the City to
reproduce the same setting throughout Louisville.

Keany arrived at 7:08 p.m.

REGULAR BUSINESS

PRESENTATION - PROCLAMATION OF COLORADO RECYCLING MONTH, JUNE
1998

Davidson read and presented a Proclamation of Colorado Recycling Month, June 1998 to Mona
Newton, member of the Louisville Resource Conservation Advisory Board.

2
