Resource Conservation Advisory Board
Minutes - January 11, 2010

. Minutes are to be forwarded to Kerrvh@lousiville.co.Qov at least one week prior to
the meeting.

2010 Schedule
Facilitator
Robin
Mary Ann
Annie
Ryan
Andy
Arno
Mark
Robin
Mary Ann
Annie
Ryan

R~cQ!deLJ
Mary Ann
Annie
Ryan
Andy
Arno
Mark
Robin
Mary Ann
Annie
Ryan
Robin

LMo[lth
February
March
April
May
June
July
August
September
October
November
December

X. REVIEW OF LRCAB GOALS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2009, SET GOALS
FOR 2010
. Although an in-depth discussion of goals was deferred to the February meeting
due to time constraints, members did briefly discuss goals.
. 2008 and 2009 goals had been summarized and distributed by Mark.
. Ryan asked if the City Council preferred detailed annual reports such as those
submitted in past years or bullet lists. Dave indicated that bullet lists were
preferred.
. Andy asked if the board was viewed as a partnership with the council (Tom said
yes) and wondered who advises who (Tom said the groups advise each other).
He wondered how we know what activities the city is/has undertaken on
sustainability and who can tell the committee what is currently being
evaluated/considered. Tom indicated that he would share with us what is being
considered if the committee identified specific topics.
. Ryan indicated that he had a copy of an energy audit the city conducted last year.
Tom will check and see if he can disperse that report or if the committee has to
request it individually.
. Andy said we need a long term vision and suggested that the February meeting
be devoted entirely to determining our vision as a committee.
. Arno said that since the committee is now over the formalities, we would have the
time to determine goals. He said that we are constrained by funding but so much
can be done just by changing the attitudes of citizens. He suggested that many
actions can be taken without funding such as a "sustainability button" on the City
of Louisville website that would lead citizens to information/websites on
sustainability.
. Robin asked how the committee could identify the city's current energy baseline
and determines where we go from there. She distributed and article describing a
green house gas emission audit conducted by CU Denver's College of
Engineering and Applied Sciences for the City of Aurora. The audit was
inexpensive and identified where Aurora should begin to make improvements.
Robin had been in touch with staff at UCD and is expecting a call back to obtain
more details about the program. Mark suggested that UCD make a presentation
to the committee.
