.:,

Memorandum

To: Historical Commission
From: Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator
Date: March 9, 2010
Re: Museum Coordinator's Report

I attended a meeting of the Professional Group of the Association of Northern Front
Range Museums (ANFRM) at the Lakewood Heritage Center with Museum volunteers
Katie Kingston, Debby Fahey, and Mary Kay Knorr. There were two programs presented
by experts and both programs were very useful. One was on what to do about potentially
dangerous or explosive items in museum collections. The other program was on the
topic of numbering and cataloging museum collection objects, and specifically on the
importance for museums to conduct regular and systematic inventories of collection
items. Due to limited staffing, there has never been a complete inventory that has
included a reconciliation of misnumbered or uncataloged items conducted for the
Louisville Historical Museum's collection.

The painting of the porches and of the sign at the front of the Jacoe Store, and the repair
of the chimneys on the Jacoe Store and Tomeo House buildings, are expected to be
completed in the spring.

Copies of recent publications from other museums and area historical organizations will
be available to view after the meeting.

Museum Visitors Report (these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, and not
inquiries that come in by email or phone):

. February visitors: 58
. YTD visitors: 153
. Totals for past recent years:
o 2009 - 2,014
o 2008 - 1,920
o 2007 - 1,646
o 2006 - 1,600

6
