Staff is cutting
down Russian olive trees, a State listed noxious weed. These
trees, originally brought here in the early 20th century to act
as windbreaks, have now spread across our landscape. Rus-
sian olives out compete and displace native trees and shrubs,
provide very poor habitat for wildlife, absorb water from
irrigation ditches, and in some cases can prevent recreationists
from accessing native environments.
You too can help our environment by removing Russian
olives on your property. Replacing them with more desirable
trees and shrubs will not only prevent the spread of Rus-
sian olive seeds, but also attract more birds to your yard. For
more information and recommendations on how to properly
control Russian olives please contact Jim Krick, Open Space
Technician, at 303.335.4742 or at JimK @LouisvilleCO.gov.
RUSSIAN OLIVE REMOVAL
KIDS FUN AT THE REC
DESSERT & STORY TIME WITH SANTA
YOUTH & CRAFT BAKE SALE
Thursday Evening, December 17.
