A REMINDER FROM
YOUR NEIGHBORS
W e would like to remind homeowners, both as
a courtesy and for the safety of
everyone, to please keep your sidewalks
clear to allow walkers, runners, and chil-
dren access to the sidewalk.
This includes shoveling your walk in
a timely manner after a snow storm (which is required
to be done within 24 hours after it stops snowing) and
clearing any low hanging branches or other garden mate-
rial that may have grown into the path of the sidewalk.
In addition, we remind residents to place trash cans
and recycling containers in the street at the curb, away
from driveways and mailboxes. Do not place
them on the sidewalks. The Municipal Code
allows for refuse containers to be out at the
curb beginning at 6:00 PM on the day prior to
the day of collection and they must be re-
moved from the curb no later than 9:00 PM on
the day of collection.
We appreciate everyone's help in making our side-
walks both safer and easier to use. Thank you.
JOHN BREAUX CLEAN-UP DAY
ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
SATURDAY, APRIL 24
S et aside Saturday, April 24 as the day to help clean
up your community and celebrate Arbor Day.
The City has designated the day as the Second Annual
John Breaux Clean -Up Day. The 2010 Census will help communi-
ties receive more than $400 billion in federal funds
each year. The data collected by the census also help
determine the number of seats Colorado has in the U.S.
House of Representatives.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
You will receive a Census questionnaire consisting of
10 questions in March 2010. Complete the question-
naire and mail it back by April 1, 2010. If the question-
naire is returned by April 1, 2010, you're done!
If you have difficulties filling out the questionnaire and
it is not mailed back by April 1, 2010, an individual
from the Census will visit your home to assist you with
completing the questionnaire.
WHY IS THE CENSUS IMPORTANT?
The Census is important because complete and
accurate Census data is critical to our ability to serve
the people of Louisville. The data helps us identify our
population and their needs and allows us to secure our
share of federal funding to meet those needs.
WHO DOES THE DATA HELP?
Everyone! Over 200 agencies make their funding
allocations based on Census data. Some examples where
federal funding is allocated are: educational agencies,
Head Start programs, Women, Infants and Children
(WIC), Public Transportation, Road rehabilitation and
construction and emergency food and shelter.
QUESTIONS?
If you have any questions about the 2010 Census,
please contact Gavin McMillan at 303.335.4594 or
GavinM @LouisvilleCO.gov. A questionnaire assistance
center will be open at the Louisville Recreation Center
February 19 - March 19. Free and anonymous consulta-
tion will be available at this time for anyone who has
questions about how to complete the questionnaire.
