.

Memorandum

To:

Historical Commission

From:

Bridget Bacon, Museum Coordinator

Date:
Re:

April 14, 2010

Museum Coordinator's Report

The next Louisville Historian is expected to be mailed out in early May. It will highlight some of
the "treasures" in the Museum's collection, particularly the movie curtain from the Rex Theatre
that was recently donated.

I will be attending the annual conference of the Colorado-Wyoming Association of Museums
May 13-15 in Laramie, Wyoming. I plan to attend sessions on such topics as curatorial
decision-making and collection policy development, the advantages and disadvantages of
starting a digitization project, and how a museum can shape the identity of a community.

I have assembled a binder of information for the volunteers for the Museum's Oral History
Program. It contains copies of forms and procedures, sample questions, detailed video
equipment operating instructions, and lists of resources for learning about Louisville history
and how to conduct oral history interviews. Copies of the binders will be provided to the
volunteers to be used as a reference for our program.

Sales taxes collected by the Historical Commission for the first quarter came to just $7 for the
City and $9 for the State on gross sales of $1318 (net sales of $208).

Copies of recent publications from other museums and area historical organizations will be
available to view after the meeting.

Museum Visitors Report (these statistics represent visits to the Museum itself, and not
inquiries that come in by email or phone):

. March visitors: 87
. YTD visitors: 240
. Totals for past recent years:
o 2009 - 2,014
o 2008 - 1,920
o 2007 - 1,646
o 2006 - 1,600
