Box 471
Boulder, Colorado 80302 •
REFERENCE URBAN WASTE RESOURCES APPLICATION
Dear Mr. Murphy, -
•
In addition to our earlier comments relating to this
application, the City of Louisville is. quite concerned that '
the limiting of disposal sites to one (1) Will have the ef- . •
fact of• forming a monopoly; and with the lack of controls
over fees, this could have a severe financial impact on the
cost of collection of solid waste, even to the extent that
people would utilize the service less with the net effect
of more trash accumulating in all the communities.
•
- We would like to suggest that the County initiate a
limited solid waste study that would include the review of
additional sites, the engineering feasibility of those sites,
and a possible acquisition schedule. The City would also
suggest that the County establish a solid waste Advisory
Committee, composed of City and County officials and also
representatives from private industry.
We understand the complexities of this problem and are
in no way attempting to imply a negative attitude about the
application. We did however want to take thin opportunity
to point out our concerns and hope that we could be of some
assistance in solving this problem in the future.
Sincerely,
L N .
City Administrator
•
LAW:cm
