• !►
10/5/82 Page -b-
Director of Public Safety Inquired under section 8.48.020 d. Des-
Leesman cription of the machine to be covered by
the license - clarification.
Attorney Rautenstraus replied - pinball
machine, video game, etc.
Leesman then referred to section 8.48. 070
Hours of Operation, and inquired if Shuffle-
board and Pool Tables in bars would be in-
cluded and required to close at midnight
if this would make a total of more than
6 machines.
Discussion by council generally agreed liquor
establishments should be excluded from the
hours of operation restriction.
Attorney Rautenstraus stated a change could
be made in the ordinance which would require
an arcade to be closed between midnight and
8 :00 A.M. - liquor licensed outlets would be
excluded from that requirement .
Councilwoman Morris Referred to section 8 .48. 030 Term of the
License and inquired if an owner went into
business in November, would he be required
to pay the full license fee.
Attorney Rautenstraus advised they would,
and council would be able to assess whether
there had been violations or problems at
the location.
Councilwoman Morris Referred to section 8. 100 Applicable Codes,
"arcades shall be brightly illuminated at
all times of operation so that all patrons
are easily recognizable" had difficulty
understanding why it was necessary for all
patrons to be recognizable and why this should
be included.
Attorney Rautenstraus advised to enable the
manager and law enforcement people to see
the activities taking place in the establishment .
CAROL KELLY - PART OWNER Carol Kelly stated she and her husband were
PINBALL WIZARD part owners of the Pinball Wizard Arcade on
South Boulder Road in the Village Square Shopping
Center.and planned to move to Louisville from
Arvada. They encourage the parents to come
into their establishment with their children
and enjoy the games as a family. Beer or
drugs are not allowed in their establishment .
They felt the $100. 00 per machine license fee
was excessive for the size of Louisville, as
they did not realize $20,000. 00 a year from
a machine. The establishment has 19 machines .
