• a - •
Page - 3 -
area set aside as open area it would be a benefit to the
future residences of Louisville.
D. Vehicle Bids - We have combined the approval of vehicle
purchases in the 1982 and 1983 Budgets and called for
bids on those vehicles that were authorized. We also
solicited proposals from leasing companies to finance
the same. Our recommendation is to award the bid to
the Century Chevrolet Inc. who were the low bidders and
authorize the lease purchase to be handled by the Colorado
National Leasing Company.
E. Social Security - For sometime now the Department Heads and
myself have been discussing the feasibility of our recommend-
ing to Council that we submit a letter to the Social Security
Administration asking or putting them on notice as relates
to our withdrawal. Local Governments have the option of
withdrawing from Social Security. We are recommending this
at this time because unless that letter is sent in December
of a given year, you fall a year behind and we are required
to give the Social Security Administration two years notice
if we intend to withdraw. Our recommendation and position
is this, that Council authorizes the letter to be sent with
the understanding that in the next two years we would study
the matter, discuss it and consider it, have a vote taken bythe
City Employees have such a study has been made to determine
in fact that we want to continue on that course. We have
the option at any given time in that two year period to send
them a letter, cancelling our intent, but tbere _are .obviously
serious concerns on the part of our people and many, many
others as to how sound the Social Security System is or will be
and we think it merits our doing that review in developing
a position.
F. Town of Superior. Sometime back we received a letter from
the Town of Superior requesting that we change the name of
Eisenhower Blvd. to McCaslin to be consistent with the
street going south, primarily because the Interchange will
have a direct north-south connection rather than the approach
that is used at the present Interchange and the recommendation
from our Planning Department is we go along with Superior' s
request and rename Eisenhower Blvd. to McCaslin Blvd.
G. Marshall Lake Report . We will have prepared for Council
at your Tuesday meeting a report, update on the Marshall
Lake Leachate situation.
Item 9. Council Comments & Committee Reports
Item 10. Approval of the Bills
Item 11. Adjournment
