4
Cindy Cederberg I live at 301 spruce Street. I would like to
ask Council to get to the bottom of how we ever got
into this mess in the first place. Who made the
mistake. Who didn't anticipate that this was going
to happen. If it was a consulting firm, I think
at the very least we shouldn't do business with them
and perhaps we should consider a law suit for the cost
of the lawns that are going to be dying this summer.
If it was a City employee, I think they should be fired.
Mayor Meier I think we'll take • ten einufa break.
Mayor Meier Called the meeting back to order
Abe 829 V. Linden, Hillsborough West. I have lived in
Louisville for 10 years and in the City of Boulder
prior to that. I feel that this situation is totally
unacceptable.I have had pressure problems for the past
2 years but have accepted it as a way of life. I
came before the council last year and complained of no
water in the early morning hours, but that was corrected.
ley concern now is whether we will experience sewer
problems next.
Jane Boswick 1045 Main Street. We have a problem with water conser-
vation. In the Rocky MOuntain News there was a series
called Troubled Waters. I would advise you to go back
and take a look at it. It was an excellent series on
the situation with water in the whole state of Colorado.
The City is tackling our problem with just outdoor
watering conservation methods, the situation is really
much more serious than that. It's a myth that we
should be able to live the kind of lifestyle that we
do in this kind of climate, semi-desert area. I would
like to see the City really take a very serious look
at our whole water situation, not just the residential
homeowner, but what are the commercial uses of water,
what are the problems with we e recycling? really go from
this point on and it's not going to be short term. This
is just the beginning. The City has a very large task
ahead of it. I hope that you do something major about
it. The second thing is that some how or another we
got to this point. I can't believe that there were not
indications of the seriousness of the problem, that our
information hasn't been accurate up to this point and
that somehow or another that some improvement in manage-
ment has to be made; improvement in consulting inforwatior
and this Council bears a very heavy responsiblity to
see that that is done.
Mayor Meier There was a couple things that was brought up during
the break that we might want to consider. The City
should probably request the different restaurants in
town to just serve water if people ask for it. One of
the other suggestions was to purchase potable water from
somewhere else and put it into our filter plant. I'm
not sure that we can do that on the basis that would
deal with our problem. Maybe the citizens committee
could brainstorm some ideas and ifthm'nefeasable, maybe
we'll just try them. I think we're open for suggestions
on some of the things we can do but I think everyone
has to realize we have certain limitations that we have
to stay within. Does Council have any comments on the
water item?
There were no comments so they moved on to item E.
Permits.
