Some of the sidewalks
that are in bad condition may be eliminated
atabi.Zising soma of the slopes; adding some
additional landscaping and cleaning up the
area. The major effort would be the preser-
vation of the lake.
Mr. Strah showed some slides of an area that
was dont in Arvada of how Lake Park might
look with added vegetation.
Concept 2 dealt with the play area being re-
located with a passive sitting area with garden
areas,etc. Their aquatic biologist suggested
that they increase the shorelind therefore in-
creasing the lake not only in surface area but
also depth. They are also proposing some use
of docks as well as satellite shelters.
The third concept dealt with a park entry and
expanding the recreational use in and around
the lake by adding boardwalks and more dock
areas.
Ten points discussed during the public meeting
were:
1. Good linkage system from all 4 directions.
2. Informal play areas
3. Dispense seating, benches, and satellite
shelters around the lake.
4. Improve ground cover around the area as
well as the greenbelt area.
S. Utilize lake for recreation area, i.e.
fishing, docks, etc.
6. Circulation - connect bike and pedestrian
crossings.
7. Parking - plan for future off-street
parking and curb cuts.
8. Add landscaping and encourage wildlife
habitat.
9. Winter recreation - sliding and ice skat-
ing on the lake.
10. Low level lighting in the park.
If Council approves, this would be Landplan' s
foundation to draft a master plan with staff' s
input and finalizing it then coming back to
Council with the final master plan of the area.
Councilwoman Morris expressed concerns with
the steep slopes near the lake - suggested a
more gradual decline. She also expressed con-
cern with the location of the picnic table
so near the lake since small children would
be inclined to go into the water.
Mr. Strah stated that he would make a note
of her concerns and deal with them when the
final plan is shown to Council.
