Luce also reminded Romart that the City agreed to <br /> remove the "south business loop" at the southwest <br /> part of the project and represents a significant <br /> dollar savings to the corporation. The costs <br /> applicable to the change in standards are more <br /> than favorably offset by the change in the way the <br /> City is addressing the need NOT to build that <br /> "vest loop". Luce is also dismayed that a <br /> representative of Homart would come is and <br /> categorically state that they are not willing to <br /> work with the City since the City has been <br /> flexible in terms of the transportation plan. <br /> Mayor Meier asked that staff bring to the Council <br /> Study Session any facts regarding 'construction <br /> costs and safety standards of on-street bike ways. <br /> Rocky Mountain Consultants offered their <br /> assistance as they had gathered a great deal of <br /> information regarding this issue. <br /> All three existing major arteries are to be <br /> assessed at the study session - Via Appia, Cherry <br /> Street, and the west business loop. <br /> COUNCIL RETREAT <br /> FOLLOWUP Hundley asked that the followup retreat be delayed <br /> until the second week in March. <br /> Johnson asked that the word "seminar" be <br /> substituted for the word "retreat" as it has been <br /> sisinterpreted by some who regarded these study <br /> sessions as mini-vacations or junkets. <br /> The follow-up session will be set tentatively for <br /> the 12th of March at City Hall . <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS Fauaon asked that staff research the need of the <br /> traffic signal at the current location on 'lain <br /> Street in front of the Louisville Middle School. <br /> There is no longer a business across Main Street <br /> for which the light was needed when children were <br /> crossing during the day. <br /> Fauson also asked that a letter be sent to Neo <br /> Data to thank them for the use of their facility <br /> during the Council ' s Work Retreat . <br /> Luce related that Commissioner Buz Smith has <br /> created a Rail Advisory Committee reviewing light <br /> rail alternatives for Boulder County and would <br /> like to see the City of Louisville participate in <br /> these proceedings. Staff engineer Kirk Rousey <br /> has been attending these meetings. The City <br /> should become involved so as to have input <br /> regarding policy decisions and begin thinking <br /> 10 <br />
