•
Ordinance 811 , Serie• 1985 , was adopted
unanimously.
NEW PtRE STATION SITE Sundial, related to Council the numerous
discussions with representatives of the Louisville
Firs Protection District, McStain Enterprises and
Bomart about a sits for a new substation in
southwest Louisville. During the past three
months discussions led to an exchange of all or
part of Parcel A for 1 1/2 acres in either Parcel
S (owned by Homart) or Parcel C (owned by
McStain.) Parcels 3 and C have immediate access
to Via Appia and either parcel would be an ideal
location for • new substation. The existing
Parcel A has no direct arterial access and cannot
be served by Flight for Life helicopter service
because of adjacent Public Service powerlinea. A
key to any exchange would be to ensure compatible
uses and densities in Parcel A so as to minimize
disruptions to adjacent property owners, and to
negotiate the best exchange possible.
Cussen spoke in favor of the proposal and would
like to see negotiations to continue. Johnson
asked the zoning of the parcels. Parcel B is
zoned by multi-family and Parcel C is currently
low-density zoning. Bundley is seeking an even
trade in terms of numbers of residential units.
Parcels B and C are approximately 1 1/2 acres and
the existing site, Parcel A is approximately 5
acres. Bundley would like to negotiate something
that would reflect the difference in size although
Parcels 8 and C are of more value due to
accessibility. Johnson would also hope that
negotiations for the completion of Via Appia would
also take place with the developers.
Hundley stated that McStain, the major property
owner adjacent to the extension of Via Appia, and
Bomart the remaining developer, have expressed
their desire to work with the City in the
construction of Via Appia.
Dan Ross, Fire Chief, explained to Council that
the time frame for the development of the site
would depend on the development of the area.
Monies have been escrowed for the substation and
would expand quickly once the numbers warrant the
expansion to this site.
Luce spoke in favor of the negotiations as it
would be a benefit to the entire community. Mayor
Meier commended the Fire Department for their
commitment in finding a suitable site and moved
that staff continue negotiations with McStain and
8
