4 4
' DEDICATION OF THE
CLEO MUDROCW PARR June 15, 1985, has been set for the dedication of
the Cleo Mudrock Park (South Park) at 11:00 a.m.
Rioco asked that Council please attend and notices
will be published in the paper inviting the public.
Morris related that a tree in Cleo's memory is
being planting by Council and asked that Mayor
Meier make the presentation at the dedication.
APPROVAL TO PURCHASE
HOWARD BERRY SITE Hundley referred to the proposed purchase contract
with the Bush family for the acquisition of the
property for the Howard Berry Water Plant Site.
Hundley stated that this shows the City's intent
to construct the Howard Berry Treatment Plant and
staff recommends that Council approve the
purchase. The money will be taken from the Water
Fund in the amount of $50,000 which was previously
budgeted. Mayor Moved that the purchase of the
Howard Berry Water Treatment Plant be negotiated.
Luce seconded= approved unanimously.
4TH OF JULY
CELEBRATION UPDATE A letter was presented to Council from the
Louisville Chamber of Commerce regarding the
SEYFIRE 85 fireworks display sponsored by KIMN
Radio. The letter indicated that after a more
thorough investigation into all aspects of putting
together an event of this proportion, several
concerns were raised. The impacts could have been
major and could have been somewhat negative.
After deliberations, the Chamber recommended that
the City not pursue SWYPIRE 85 because they feel
it not to be in the best interest of the citizens
of Louisville. Steve Anderson, President of the
Louisville Chamber of Commerce, spoke to Council
relating the information that was given to the
Chamber and City staff members. "A11 the
indications pointed towards the lack of manpower,
dollars and time to put together something of this
scale with Any type of quality or semblance of
order. It would not only impact the business
community, but the community as a whole and
the Chamber decided not to do it at this time."
"We will put some strength behind this year's
celebration at Memory Square Park and make it one
of the best ever."
SPECIAL LIQUOR PERMIT
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE The Chamber's desire to still obtain a special
liquor permit for the celebration at Memory Square
Park on July 4th was presented to Council. The
notices need to be reposted and a Public Hearing
be set for June 18th to consider this application.
4
