according to Phare, is liability. There are
currently 4 large pumps and 1 small pump. During
peak hours last year, the City was operating all
pumps and barely keeping up with demand with
pressure being a little lower than normal. This
pump would help meet peak hour demand. It will
also be available as a back-up pump should any
dosage occur to an existing pump while repairs are
being made. This will also help pressure during
peak hours to those people in the high sone. It
won't have such impact on pressure fluctuations
for variances seen in the system presently that
are simply inherent in the City's mechanical
system.
The bid amount is over what was budgeted this year
for this project. It is in line with the
engineer's estimate and the difference in the cost
will essentially be taken from other deferred
Capital expenses, Phan!' stated. At the time money
was budgeted last year for this project, there
were no preliminary engineering estimates.
In response to questions from Carnival, Pharr
assured him that it is extremely ,important to have
this pump installed at this time. Should a pump
fail and be out for any length of time at all, the
high son. will definitely suffer loss of pressure
to a great extent during peak watering hours.
This additional pump will join the other pumps in
a rotation of service depending on demand.
Phare stated that the pump should be ready for use
by the first part of July.
Anderson moved that Council authorise the award of
contract for the high sone pump to Wheatland
Industries, Inc. in the amount of $23,036. Mayor
Pausal seconded. Unanimous.
•
JOINT LOUISVILLE/LAPAYZTTR COMMIT! DIIVILOPRINIT
DLOCI GUN? (CDDG) APPLICATION - SIT PUbLIC SNARING
Handley stated that • joint task force of six
people looked into the possibility of developing a
joint CDIQ application to the State for funding.
Rich Wanush, Community Development Director, John
Milken, Manager for the Chamber of Commerce, and
Clair Beckman serve on this task force
representing Louisville. Council is being asked
to set a Public Searing for May 6, 1916, to talk
in detail about this program and to consider at
that time both the loan program and the possible
ratification of the intergovernmental agreement.
T
