Proper publication and <br /> notice of public hearing were detarained. <br /> Mayor rauson opened the public bearing. <br /> Si000 explained that this ordinance expands <br /> Louisville's snforoesteat to control areas of <br /> public lakes and reservoirs within the City of <br /> Louisville. At present tine, City ordinances only <br /> apply to parks and open space. Sioco added that <br /> prior to the 'meeting • resident near Harper Lake <br /> asked that a provision be added to the rules to <br /> include prohibiting unauthorised vehicles. Iliac* <br /> felt this was appropriate and asked that this be <br /> included. <br /> Patricia Koonce, 1474 xsnn.dy Ave., asked if the <br /> number of boating permits (currently 50) could be <br /> expanded to allow wore residents access to the <br /> lake. <br /> Gene blade, 99. W. Alder, consented that there <br /> appear to be no sore than 2 boats on the lake at <br /> on. tine and that the number of permits right be <br /> enough for now. black also thanked staff for the <br /> inclusion of 'no unauthorised vehicles' in the <br /> rules for the lake. <br /> Xeith Sternal, 534 aoptras Court, asked why dogs <br /> on leashes can't be allow to walk around the lake <br /> for exercise. <br /> Staff and Council sncplained that which was <br /> discussed at the last Council meeting-that the <br /> decision was nade based on the fact that this is <br /> the City's potable water source and there is a <br /> high degree of contamination protection that the <br /> State and staff recommends. This includes <br /> prohibiting activities where there is body contact <br /> with the water including sailing vessels where <br /> they tip easily, and prohibiting dogs and horses in► <br /> the fenced area around the lake. <br /> 12 • <br />
