•
City will have the money, plus there is a contract
for the project. Therefor*, this project should
be completed by the deadline.
Mayor Pauson moved that Council approve the
Addendum to the City/County Agreement regarding
the South Boulder Road Project and AD 1405 conies
in the amount of $450,000. Szymanski seconded.
Unanimous.
DISCUSSIOII/DIRECTIO - CITY WARD
BOUNDARIES Rundley explained that there were several maps
with proposed ward boundaries that staff had
developed since the last Work Session end asked
that a short recess be taken so that Council could
review each. Handley asked that Council narrow
their choices to one or two saps for staff to
further refine.
After Council reviewed the maps, it was determined
that with two Councilmen absent, that it would be
best to wait until they had a chance to review the
proposals before narrowing the choices to less
than three.
Rautenstraus stated that it would be best to delay
drafting an ordinance until the absent Councilmen
could review the choices. Until the City begins
to see a disproportionate population growth in one
Ward, legally Council is not allowed to change
Ward boundaries on a whim.'
Carnival stated that trying to accomplish an even
distribution at this time wouldn't necessarily
create an even distribution of the population in
just a year or two years. Therefore,
consideration for growth must be used in
determining the proper ward boundaries.
Mayor Pauson stated that one consideration that
Council was trying to achieve was to have a
business area in each of the three wards -
downtown primarily in Ward II, the South Boulder
Road business area in Ward I, and aosart and CTC
in Ward III.
Sackett stated that he would like to see the City
unified as such as possible by having a good
distribution of newer residents and long-time
residents in each Ward also.
Council decided to eliminate one of the four
proposed saps based on proposed growth figures in
the proposed Ward I boundaries. Staff will work
on the remaining three proposals using population
5
