•
OTHER:
JOINT RECREATION
COMMITTEE As a follow-up to a joint Council meeting,
Lafayette has appointed four people to this Joint
Recreation Committee. Hundley suggests that
Robert Rrisko, and member of the Recreation Task
Force and two Councilmembers serve on this joint
Committee to look at recreation programs and look
at a recreation facility.
Mayor Fauson stated that Anderson expressed a
desire to be on the Committee. Carnival and
Scarpella also asked to serve.
CEMETERY WATERLINE Hundley stated that several Councilmembers
expressed concern regarding the waterline to serve
the City's cemetery. Putting the waterline down
Highway 42 might better tie in the City's grid
system and/or connect some loose ends of the
City's water system as well as serve some area of
potential development prospects. At that time
staff will be able to inform Council of the cost
of a line down Highway 42 and what the timing
of that project would be.
TRAFFIC SIGNALS ON SOUTH
BOULDER ROAD Phare explained that the contractor installing the
traffic signal at South Boulder Road and McCaslin
Blvd. will begin work tomorrow. As everyone is
• aware, the South Boulder Road Project is underway
widening that portion from McCas-lin to Washington.
The signal should be completed in approximately 2
months. Should the South Boulder Road Project
extend the completion time for the traffic signal,
the Public Works Department is geared to deal with
any traffic problems by utilising flashing beacons
and other options to minimise problems at that
intersection. During construction the speed limit
has been reduced to 25 mph through that portion of
the road.
Anderson asked if provisions have been made from
the west to indicate a signal ahead. Phare stated
that it is a sound suggestion that will be
implemented.
INVITATION TO ATTEND ROCKY FLATS INFORMATION MEETING RE:
PROPOSED BURN Hundley stated that Council received an invitation
to attend an information meeting at Rocky Flats
regarding the proposed burn. The meeting is on
May 4th and Council, staff, and members of the
11
