07/07/87
the Work Shop was very informative. One statistic
Anderson shared with Council was that the City of
Louisville ranked 2 out of the eleven cities in the
County in terms of per capita expenditures for parks
and recreation open space. The City of Louisville
currently has 70 acres of open space per 1,000
population. Lill* echoed Anderson's comments
regarding the success of the Work Shop and stated
that the growing concern is for the management of
these open space areas in terms of maintenance.
Mohr stated that the W--470 Authority chose two
potential routes for consideration and should have
Phase II, the determination of a route of this
portion of the highway, by the end of the summer.
The third phase will be to determine funding for the
project. Mohr stated that unfortunately the
transportation bill that Governor Romer proposed was
tabled, if not defeated. Rep. flume voted against
the bill and Mohr stated that he felt it would be in
the City's best interest to ask that Rep. Rums vote
in favor of the bill should it come up again in
Special Session.
Mayor Fauson noted that Mohr had been selected as
secretary/treasurer for the W-470 Authority
Executive Committee and thanked him for his partici-
pation in that office.
Mayor Fauson stated that once again, the 4th of July
Celebration in Memory Square Park had been a great
success and thanked staff for their participation and
help in the day's events. Lawrence Richmond, Street
Department, and the people from the Parks Department
were thanked specifically.
ADJOURNMENT With no further business, Mayor Fauson moved that
the meeting be adjourned. Mohr seconded. The
meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. unanimously.
6
