Fauson: Council since this is a first reading and we have three Councilmembers absent and such as this is quite a controversial issue and it would go to the vote of the people if we authorized it, I would make the recommenda- tion at this time we take no action at all on this since we have almost half the Council not here. Hornbostel: I agree. Fauson: If no action is taken then we do not set for public hearing? Griffiths: That is correct. Mayor Fauson called for any action on Ordinance No. 1044, Series 1991. NONE ORDINANCE NO. 1045, SERIES 1991 - AMENDING THE LOUISVILLE MUNICI- PAL CODE TO MARE THE CITY TREASURER POSITION APPOINTIVE RATHER THAN ELECTIVE IF APPROVED BY THE REGISTERED ELECTORS OF LOUIS- VILLE, AND CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION THEREON - 1ST READING - SET FOR PUBLIC HEARING Griffiths read by title only, Ordinance No. 1045, Series 1991, "An Ordinance making the position of City Treasurer appointive rather than elective if approved by the voters of the City of Louisville, and calling a special election thereon. " Griffiths: I was requested to draft an ordinance to present just for your consideration again; section 1. makes the changes to the Municipal Code; section 2 . makes those changes depend- ent upon approval by the majority of regis- tered electors at a special election; and section 3 . calls a special election to be held on August 6. Mayor Fauson made the same recommendation as was discussed on Ordinance No. 1044 . No action was taken. OTHER REGULAR BUSINESS ITEMS ARISING AFTER PREPARATION OF AGENDA Mayor Fauson called for any additional items arising after prepa- ration of the agenda.
