-- . steering Commi ttee, tha tit needed to be represented from the community. We sent letters to 13 different groups of people asking them to get together and appoint a person to represent them. We met with three groups to explain to them what we were trying to do. Mayor Fauson: We tried not to overlook anyone. Davidson: The Futures Conference when it was originally started was based on economic development. Where does this fit in the Futures Conference? Brand: We had a steering Committee to decide what they wanted to plan. Howard: What I really wanted to see out of this was economic development. The Steering Committee as a body didn't feel that way. I still think anything we do still has to be paid for. On many of these issues I believe people will see similar effects. Hopefully what we will end up with is some type of economic development planning in conjunction with normal city planning and a general feeling for what the population of Louisville really wants. Brand: Also reminded the Council of the work session for March 12, 1990. It will be held at the city Shops. The February news letter will be combined with the March news-letter and some of the questions that were brought up at the Ward meetings will be addressed in the letter. COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE REPORTS Szymanski: Reported that the Chamber is planning flag day on June 14th and asked that the Council keep that date open. Howard: At the Ward meeting a question was brought up about why the restroom facilities of the Recreation Center had some type of odor. Is this a problem and if so I would like staff to look into this. Brand: Stated it isn't really the restrooms, it's the dressing room. It is the carpet and we have been trying to resolve this issue. Howard: Asked if the joint work session with the Chamber will be taking place next week. I will be out of town the 13th and the 14th and didn't want to be 14
