<br />Senior Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />3/16/10 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />AAC Report-None Larry Brassem & Debbie Fahey volunteered to serve on <br />AAC. Barbara Peterson's resignation was accepted. Dan Zinkowski spoke on <br />behalf of Special Transit. Ideas for fund-raising were discussed. (Las Vegas <br />Night, Bingo, Yard Sale) Kathy Martin reminded the board that the Foundation <br />because of its 5013C status should be the fund-raiser. She said that a <br />revitalization of the foundation was under way; Debbie Fehey & Don Brown were <br />actively looking for new members to the Foundation Board. May 4th, 4:30 will be <br />an organizational meeting for the Senior Foundation. Carol Purfurst suggested <br />finding a business to underwrite Special Transit. <br /> <br />City Council Report-Dave Clabots Dave talked about the use tax which would <br />bring more revenue to Louisville. Questions about its definition and application <br />were raised at that time. Dave was asked by Bob if the City Council objected in <br />any way to the Senior Advisory Boards functioning. After discussion it was <br />determined that the City Manager, Director of Parks & Recreation and Director of <br />Finance requested that the Senior Advisory Board write a Resolution for the City <br />Council. Kathy & Joe said the Resolution would be part of housekeeping effort to <br />standardize all City Boards and Commissions. Connie pointed out that the <br />Senior Advisory Board was not a City Board but an advisory board to the staff of <br />the Senior Center. Bill McDermott said that this issue had previously been <br />settled with a letter, but the letter could not be found. <br /> <br />Treasurer's Report-Rosalie Lynn reported no action in the previous month. <br />Signature authority has been taken care of with both Larry & Rosalie as <br />signatories on the account. Larry read the thank you from the Louisville <br />Community Food Bank. There was a discussion on approving Advisory Board <br />funds to support Senior Center Lunch Program. A motion to give the City <br />$2,000.00 in 2010 to retain the fifth day of the lunch program with the hope that <br />we could get matching funds from the Foundation was passed. <br /> <br />Staff Reports-Katie Beasley & Kathy Martin-Heat Relief Ticket sales were <br />$2,594., the auction earned $3,113., and donations totaled $3,075.. May is <br />Older Americans Month. There will be a proclamation on May 4th at the City <br />Council meeting and there will be a luncheon on May 12th. The Ice Cream social <br />will include volunteer appreciation on Thursday, July 15th. Kathy said four years <br />had passed since the County produced a strategic plan for "Creating Vibrant <br />Communities in which we all age well. She asked what role if any we would like <br />to commit to as part of a revision effort. (Host a meeting, participating at a round <br />table discussion) By consensus the Senior Advisory Board would like to playa <br />role. Katie Beasley has been appointed Supervisor II, Senior Services. <br />Kathy Martin pointed out that efforts & resources were being duplicated with the <br />publication of both the Senior Highlights & the Parks & Recreation Catalogue. <br />Beginning in December the Highlights will be included in the Catalogue.
