Discussion was held regarding why it depends on the project, most are in a C-Safe <br />account. Finance can look at other options, but liquidity is very important. This item can be put <br />on agenda for next month. The average turn rate is approximately 15 days. <br />An explanation was given to the two students regarding the differences between subsidized <br />housing and affordable housing. The ability to be able to assist those in need right now and how <br />the programs work. <br /> <br />A discussion was held regarding how to help with mood and attitude when you are going through <br />a cycle of many people aging and starting to die (especially in the senior centers); how to deal <br />with problems with other tenants and depression. Kris Durso has been able to get everyone at <br />the senior centers working with her and she has been gaining their trust and working with them <br />with socialization; meals on site, and much more. Walt says it is important to give personal <br />support to the survivors when someone passes away and recognize it. Some of the seniors have <br />church and family support, but some of them have no support from their families, etc. Chuck <br />and Sally were present at resident meeting at Lydia. A report regarding the meeting is in the <br />board packet. <br /> <br />Walt said the meeting was good for Lydia Morgan residents; about 1/3 or the residents wanted to <br />participate. Concerns were brought up regarding the matter of communication. Discussion was <br />held regarding the snow removal- i.e., housing staff thought they were doing well, resident <br />thought not. This was a very constructive meeting and set the form for future meetings. <br /> <br />Chuck also thought the meeting went quite well. They will be sending another reminder for the <br />next meeting. The meeting will be held the first Tuesday of every month. BCHA will be <br />sending out a survey to determine if they would like to organize a local resident council, with <br />encouragement to bring a neighbor to get more people to engage in the local council. Discussion <br />was held on issues regarding electric concerns and other maintenance issues. Since the <br />maintenance budget is currently a little tight, it was mentioned that community workers are being <br />used. The discussion was constructive for staff and for residents. For the next meeting, hopefully <br />20 residents or more will show up and can get a resident council organized. The resident council <br />will help staff and help residents to stay on top of things. <br /> <br />Sherri gave kudos to both Chuck and Sally. The most important thing was the matter of listening <br />to the tenants. A suggestion was made to have a better "new tenant" orientation with printed <br />instructions on how things are dealt with. Many simple suggestions that the tenants came up <br />with are being addressed. Selena said Chuck and Sally did a great job and listened to the tenants, <br />
