...

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Don Shonkwiler, representing Homart Development.

Shonkwiler: Presented $500.00 to the Centaurus After Prom
Parents on behalf of Homart Development.

Carnival: Thanked Homart Development on behalf of Norbert
and Mary Meier and on behalf of all of parents
involved.

Greg Beary, 1833 Polk Ave., Louisville, Colorado

Beary: I have been following with great interest Mr.
Howard's Restaurant Incentive Program and given
that there is no public comments on tonight's
agenda I would like to say a few words about it.
I left a copy of the letter to the Editor in your
mailboxes prior to your last meeting. In it I
outlined my concerns regarding Councilman Howard's
proposal. In a nut shell there resolves around
the fact that only a fraction of our business
community is targeted. Eating and drinking estab-
lishments account for less than 25% of our sales
tax revenue. Only 7 of the restaurants in town
have agreed to this proposal. The facts regarding
this plan keep changing. Originally Mr. Howard was
to use this plan to boost Monday and Tuesday night
sales. Now, I understand that the restuarant
owners get to decide when they want to participate
and in what given way. Lastly, while Mr. Howard
claims that he is using his money to get this
going, today's Dailv Camera article states that
this is only the first step. When the punch card
system gets going our city will be obligated for
more than the $4,000 per year Mr. Howard currently
proposes. What I want to know is why are my tax
dollars being considered to support the private
business activities of a few. None of this makes
sense or at least it didn't until the Louisville
Times provided me with a clue. I have already
provided the people in the audience with copies of
Mr. Howard's campaign disclosure form. At this
time Mr. Beary provided the City Council with
copies also. You will notice that Joe Colacci....

Mayor Fauson: Stated that he had asked for Public Comments on
items not on the agenda. This item is on the
Agenda and you would be able to speak to it at
that time with a sign up card. If you would like
to speak to the Restaurant Incentive Program, you
may do so at that time.

Mr. Beary agreed to wait until then.
