There are photos of very old swim
teams and other activities from dance and
band groups; we are also working at Coal
Creek Golf Course in a program for "Tee It
Up" for Trees in which we will be doing some
special events to work as fund raisers. The
funds will be used to purchase more trees at
the Golf Course; soccer clinic; Louisville
Nights at Elitches, Denver Zephyr game and
Highland Hills Water World; softball tourna-
ment on July 14; free concert in Memory
Square Park on July 17; and several other
special events including the "Popsicle"
Family Fun Run; and the Mayor's Challenge to
be Fit.

UNDERGROUNDING OF ELECTRIC FACILITIES ON DILLON RD. AND SO. 88TH
ST. BETWEEN COAL CREEK AND HEALTH PARK DRIVE

Sackett: I am the President of Avista Hospital which
is on the out pike drive. I feel it would be
appropriate for me to abstain from the dis-
cussion and not vote on this matter

Mayor Fauson requested that the record show that Councilman John
Sackett asked to be excused from the discussion.

Phare: Recently Public Works had been contacted by
Public Service regarding the proposed re-
placement of the overhead powerline facili-
ties on Dillon Road and South 88th Street.
Knowing that we are going to be improving
Dillon Road in the near future we thought it
would be good to coordinate line replacement
and see if we could get it underground. We
requested Public Service to prepare an esti-
mate for underground placement of these lines
rather than replace the overheads as they
currently exist. They provided an estimate
of $347,525.00. The cost to Public Service
Company for upgrading the existing facili-
ties, which would leave the overhead lines,
is estimated at $171,674.00. The incremental
cost to the City for undergrounding is the
remaining $175,851. 00. For the record this
expenditure in a sense is not truly City
funds; it is part of the fees that all of the
utility customers in Louisville pay to Public
Service. These funds are set aside specifi-
cally for underground lines that exist as
overheads. It is not like we can use this
money for other priorities within the City,
it is specifically for this. We are recom-
mending that we proceed with this so that

3
