...,
Howard: I don't have a problem with that.
Hornbostel: I don't like that because I think the issue is, would you
pay for one?
Sackett: I am willing to add a third question. I don't think it
~ould be a problem with too many questions on this
Issue. If you want to ask, would you be willing to
contribute taxes toward a connection between E-470
and C-470. I don't have a problem with more questions.
Howard: That is fine with me.
Hornbostel: I think that is too many. We want a simple issue. I
think if you want to ask about the roadway, the people
already voted on it and said that they did want it for
whatever reason. They didn't want to do it. The idea is
that people don't know what that reason was and
everybody seem to think, at least the W-470 Authority
thinks it is because they didn't want to pay for it. I
think if you're going to say something like that you need
to ask them point blank, will you pay for a beltway that
encircles ... or else your going to get the same answer
you got the last time. Sure everybody is going to
support it if someone comes in and says, here I'll give
you a free road. Support means do you like it and that's
okay, but if you're going to say would you be willing to
put your dollars out there to support this road that is
totally different. People change and that is exactly what
happened in that last election in my opinion. I really
think you need to be clear on how you word it or else
you're not going to get any information out of those
questions at all.
Howard: It does seem that after thinking about this that there
probably are three questions; one is funding; one is
connection; and the other is the Authority. That seems
to be reasonably clear in my mind. I guess even though
it may be a little bit more confusing I trust the voters of
Louisville to give me a reasonable answer to those
question. For example if the voters hypothetically said
yes, we want a connection to the airport and we want to
get out of the Authority, that pretty much tells me that
they want the parkway. That is pretty clear to me. If
they say yes, I want to stay in the Authority and I'm
11
-.
