--..
Davidson: Randy, your comment about too early, we have been a
member of the Authority for I think about five years
and so to me, I don't think we are too early, I think we
are too late. I think we should have answered this
questions a long time ago. As far as educating the
people on the pros and cons of W -4 70, three years ago
they voted on it and unless they've all completely wiped
their memory out they still must have some memory of
that. I'm pretty sure they can make an intelligent
decision based on the information they have. There
hasn't been any change, that I know of, of what the
Authority is proposing. It is still the same route, it is
still toll road and combination of some form of taxation
on residents, including the residents of Louisville. I
think that is a pretty clear issue. Should Louisville
maintain its membership in the Authority or not. If at
some future date the Authority is needed by Louisville
the Authority doesn't cease to exist, it just looses its
power over Louisville. Louisville at some future date
could rejoin if it decided it liked the Authority's
proposal. At this point, I don't like the Authority's
proposal and I don't want W -4 70 running through
Louisville and I sure as heck don't want to pay taxes to
build it. I think there is a strong sentiment out there in
the community for that. I think we should allow the
people who live in town the right to make the choice
since the Council is divided.
Sackett: I am respectful of that. I on the other hand think there
are some problems with the Authority, but I do want
W-470. I am willing to pay taxes and need to be able to
express my opinion and the one question doesn't allow
me to do that. I know that there are others who have
similar ideas to mine and need to have the opportunity
to express themselves on the ballot. That's why I think
it is not fair to just have the one question.
Howard: What are your two questions?
Sackett: If you wanted to limit it to two, I would be willing to
leave the first one as your suggested and the second one
would be, do you support the construction of a beltway
connecting E-470 with C-470?
10
--
