Motion passed 6-0.
DISCUSSION/DECISION CONCERNING BALLOT QUESTION ON
MEMBERSHIP IN W-470
At the Council meeting of September 3, 1991, Councilman Davidson had requested that
the City Attorney put together suggested verbiage for a ballot question regarding the City
of Louisville's continued membership in the W-470 Authority. The City Attorney did make
two suggestions for ballot questions:
Option 1. Shall the City of Louisville remain as a member of the W-470
Authority?
Option 2. Shall the City of Louisville withdraw as a member of the W-470
Authority?
Davidson: My personal preference would be for option 1, which is
"Shall the City of Louisville remain as a member of the
W-470 Authority?" I don't have any strong objections to
option 2. I think option 1 is a little clearer. Yes, you're
in; no, you're out.
Sackett: I don't plan to pull a delay tactic here, but I realized
after reading the minutes that I was unclear at the last
meeting. I was hoping to ask two more questions, so I
wrote the City Attorney a note that I was unclear and
asked if she could come up with language for two
additional questions by the next meeting. I would like
to know, separate from the Authority, do the people
support the idea of having a northwest beltway? The
wording could be, if proper funding is available do you
support construction of a beltway connecting E-470 with
C-470? I think that would be helpful to the Council.
Secondly, if proper funding is available do you support
a beltway/roadwaylIinkage between U.S. 36 and the new
airport. If it is all right with you, I would like to have
those included. I think that gives the officials an idea of
what position we should take.
4
