-- .
Hornbostel: Ok, the other question I have is are the powerlines
going to be underground in this project?
Cudlip: No, they are not. We did look into doing that but the
cost to underground the powerlines both on South
Boulder Road and Highway 42 were just astronomical.
Carnival moved to adopt Resolution No. 24, Series 1991, seconded by Davidson.
Davidson: I would like to make one comment in reference to the
letter from the business people. They may indeed be
right that the last thing the City needs is another video
rental store. I don't feel the City Council, as a
government body, can get into the process of selecting
what business can or cannot come to Louisville. I think
it is up to the free enterprise system to determine that.
I have full faith in that, and although I can appreciate
that the owner of the video store in the Safeway Plaza
and the one in Lafayette are going to be hurt by it, I
don't think it is appropriate for the City to deny a
business coming to town for those kinds of reasons.
Cudlip: We are very careful about the tenants we select and put
into our centers. We have turned down several tenants
already that would not be conducive to the business that
we are looking for in this center. We have signed a
lease with a gourmet coffee store for the other half of
the 1,500 sq. ft. building. The building is fully leased at
this time.
Mayor Fauson reminded Council that a motion and a second to adopted Resolution No.
24 had been made. Roll call was taken. Motion passed 5-1 with Szymanski voting no.
ORDINANCE NO. 1062, SERIES 1991 - RELINQUISHING SANITARY
SEWER EASEMENT - LOUISVILLE PLAZA - 1ST READING - SET
PUBLIC HEARING
Susan Griffiths read by title only Ordinance No. 1062, Series 1991, "An Ordinance
transferring by Quit Claim Deed any Title and Interest of the City of Louisville in an
Easement. "
John Franklin, Director of Community Development, gave a staff presentation on
Ordinance No. 1062.
11
