June 15, 2010 <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />expand their services to provide schooling opportunities for older children (kindergarten <br />through 5grade). The proposed hours for the Patchwork Elementary School will be <br />th <br />8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. (8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for the half day program). Staff <br />recommended approval with the following conditions: <br />1. The applicant shall develop a staggered start time schedule so there is no traffic <br />conflict in the already established drop-off zone. <br />2. Patchwork Elementary Staff shall use the existing off-street parking on the <br />subject property. <br />3. The maximum number of students at any one time shall not exceed 20 students. <br />4. The rear fencing shall be 6’ in height and shall have only one locked gate. <br />5. Trash recycling area shall be consistent with the regulations established in the <br />Louisville Municipal Code. <br />6. Approval of this SRU is for the applicant only. For purposes hereof, applicant <br />means the entity doing business as The Patchwork School and any affiliated <br />entity under majority ownership and control of said applicant. <br />APPLICANT PRESENTATION <br />Elizabeth Baker and Michelle Beach are the Directors of the Patchwork School. Ms. <br />Baker commented on how Louisville is such a great community for alternative <br />educational programs. Ms. Beach explained they have developed a drop-off and pick- <br />up management plan to meet all the conditions of the Special Review Permit. <br />Haley Sladek, 1615 Cottonwood Drive, Louisville, CO, a Patchwork School staff <br />member, stated Louisville is a great community that supports alternative schools. <br />Kat Van Matre, 499 Lincoln Circle, Louisville, CO, a parent of one child attending the <br />Patchwork School and of another child who will start in the fall. She supported the <br />Patchwork Elementary School, which offers parents an alternative to public schooling. <br />COUNCIL COMMENT <br />Councilor Muckle asked if the neighbor to the north of the school had any comments <br />relative to the Patchwork Elementary School. It was confirmed there were none. <br /> MOTION: Mayor Pro Tem Marsella moved to approve Resolution No. 31, Series 2010, <br />seconded by Councilor Muckle.
