June 22, 2010
Human Resource Manager Hix explained the City performs salary surveys in
order to keep wages within the market. Mayor Sisk stated the City Council
supported the employees being paid a wage comparable to the market.
Councilor Yarnell commented the benefit package and the compensation
package is an investment in the City.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Bruce Becker, 533 Coal Creek Lane, Louisville, CO questioned the employee
compensation over a three-year period during very tough economic times. He
noted State employees salaries have been frozen for two years. He stated
government employees make twice the amount the private sector makes and
their benefits package is second to none.
Gail Wetrogren, 930 McKinley Avenue, Louisville, CO noted many residents
distrust government in general.
Council directed Staff to bring a use tax question and ordinance, for first reading
at the July 6 City Council meeting.
Review of City Manager’s Recommended C-I-P for 2011 - 2015
City Manager Fleming explained the 2011-2015 Five-Year Capital Improvement
Program (C-I-P) is an integral part of the overall budget process and final budget
document. Upon Council approval of the C-I-P, all 2011 project costs will be
added to the 2011 Recommended Budget presented to Council in October.
COUNCIL COMMENTS
Mayor Pro Tem Marsella questioned the land acquisition for the City Shops. City
Manager Fleming explained there is a property located to the west of the existing
City shops, which if acquired would be advantageous to enlarge the City Shop
facilities.
Councilor Sackett felt the City Shop construction project is an investment in the
City. Mayor Sisk agreed this is an opportunity to invest in the City at a
tremendous value.
Councilor Dalton felt the City’s first priority is the streets, water utilities and public
safety and after those are fully funded all of the other projects should be funded.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
31
